A New Series by Elaine Manders and Others
Today I’m excited to announce a brand new series, The Westward Home and Hearts Mail-Order Brides. An eccentric match-maker, Mildred (Milly) Crenshaw, is a wealthy, childless widow who has taken up her late husband’s mission to see the West peacefully settled. Milly believes every hardworking settler requires a helpmate, and the women will bring peace to the Wild West.
The Setting
Milly’s agency is set in Boston where she lives in a Georgian mansion when not traveling, which she does a lot of. Miss Jane Wadsworth, her fortyish spinster secretary and traveling companion, claims to be related to Longfellow. She provides some dry humor to Milly’s exuberance.
The setting for these books is any time between 1865 and 1900 and any state west of the Mississippi, including the popular western settings of Texas, Wyoming, Colorado, Montana, and the prairie states of Nebraska and Kansas.
The Authors
This multi-author series runs through 2020. Other contributing authors are Marisa Masterson, Margaret Tanner, P. Creeden, Kelly Mewbourne Dear, Lisa Prysock, Marie Higgins, G.S. Carr, and Linda Shenton Matchett.
I call these books sweet western romance plus. The “plus” represents adventure, danger, suspense, or emotional distress. And a faith thread that carries the hero and heroine to their Happily Ever After.
The first book is scheduled for release Oct 11, but has been available for pre-order since Sep 16.
Lacy’s Legacy by Elaine Manders
Ethan Wilkes, a former army sharp shooter, hopes to go west and start a horse ranch. But he isn’t ready for a wife, especially a grieving widow, great with child.
However, Ethan’s Aunt Milly, proprietress of the Western Home and Hearts Matrimonial Agency, selected such a bride for him: Lacy Avant. To make matters worse, Malcolm Dye, a ruthless rancher who’s murdered Lacy’s husband, threatens her.
Lacy stipulates that her claim is “proved” before marrying. Never one to resist a lady in distress, Ethan agrees. He sets out for Buffalo Run determined to bring justice to the small Montana town.
From the first, Lacy knows this handsome, tough cowboy is capable of confronting Dye and his henchmen. He will use his fast gun if necessary. Their feelings for each other deepen as new danger threatens. Meanwhile, Lacy wonders if this land, her legacy to pass on to her child, is worth losing another man she loves.
Love and faith will grow and bullets will fly in this western historical romance.
